NEUROSTRONG

HOME OF ROCK STEADY BOXING DALLAS, GRAND PRAIRIE, AND SOUTHLAKE

Stay active and healthy while living with a neurologic disease.

We are dedicated to provide fun high quality and effective exercise programs and resources to help people with a neurologic diagnosis stay active, continue participating in activities they enjoy, and perform their daily tasks.

We do this by offering quality trained coaches and staff, and provide support to not only our members but their care partners and families as well. We look at the whole person, as we also offer monthly nutritional classes and support group meetings. We are focused on building a strong community and providing resources to support those on this journey.

How we got started

NeuroStrong started with a passion to help others . . .

Mallory Spoonts graduated in 2015 from the University of Indianapolis with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, where she became aware of the Rock Steady Boxing program. This non-contact, boxing program is proving to dramatically improve the lives of those with Parkinson’s disease.

Mallory has a true passion for helping people with a neurologic diagnosis and their families. She became a neurologic clinical specialist in her field of physical therapy in 2019. Through treatment and care of her patients, Mallory saw a gap in care when she went to discharge her patients. There were limited options for her patients to continue an exercise program and stay active. Mallory opened two Rock Steady Boxing programs to serve the Parkinson’s community, but quickly realized there was an even greater need. That is when Mallory founded NeuroStrong Wellness and Fitness to better serve the neurologic population and their family members.

Testimonials

Rock Steady Boxing Dallas changed my life for the better!! It encouraged me to "fight back" and take control! It's more than just boxing. It's a support network that teaches you skills and offers you knowledge to overcome obstacles of daily living with Parkinson. My wife and I absolutely love the organization, the people and highly recommend Rock Steady Boxing Dallas!!!

When I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, my neurologist suggested I join a boxing group for exercise and movement. Fortunately I found Rock Steady Boxing in Southlake. Our group usually has 25 "boxers" or more in most sessions. This group is led by a Board Certified Neuro Rehab Specialist who will adapt exercises to meet the individual “boxers” abilities. The exercises are directed toward movement, core strengthening and dexterity.

Rock Steady Boxing in Dallas is awesome. I’ve been going since Nov 2022. I started, by calling them using the phone number on their website. I was able to schedule an initial assessment the next day and participated in the class 15 mins later. When I joined RSB, I had just been diagnosed and was quite frankly terrified. I had never boxed before. I was very out of shape and experiencing early Parkinson’s Disease symptoms. I try to attend classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I also participate in the monthly support group meetings.

I was diagnosed with PD seven years ago and have been doing Rock Steady Boxing for the last two. Years ago in my younger days I was very active in the oriental martial arts, particularly karate and yawara jitsu. Sadly, my days of doing flying side jump kicks are over, but RSB provides a way for me to practice footwork and non-contact punching, either on a heavy bag or with a partner, while getting a good workout. It also provides a chance to network and make new friends with whom I share the common bond of Parkinson's Disease. The RSB staff and volunteers work hard to make each session effective and fun.

My life has changed dramatically for the better since starting Rock Steady boxing classes with Mallory. It is not uncommon to hear me ask, "What fresh hell is this?" when I see each class's latest tasks. I mean it in the most positive sense, as Mallory challenges me to go further, be better, and go the distance to give me my best chance to fight this disease.

-Tina

When I was first told about Rock Steady after living with PD for a short time I thought "no way" I am doing everything I can not to fall". My brother sent me an article and links to additional information. I now feel that Rock Steady is as vital to me as my medication. Plus, opportunity of meeting other people like me. Best part of my week. Thanks Rock Steady and team for your support and cheer.

-Harry

My doctor said; "Whatever you are doing keep it up. I can see improvement"
